Altmaier, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, explains what is needed to reboot the automotive sector according to the German Presidency of the Council of the EU.<\/p>\n indispensable link in Europe\u2019s industrial value chain and we need to make sure to preserve it for the future,\u201d Altmaier underlines. \u201cThe sector is now facing a global drop in demand while being under pressure to undergo a difficult and cost-intensive technological transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to help the industry make this transition, the German EU Presidency\u2019s priorities include expanding charging infrastructure, stimulating battery cell production in Europe and enabling the rollout of automated driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Altmaier: \u201cI want to make sure that Europe continues to be a strong basis for the automotive industry and that it will become a leading international market for the mobility sector of the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal Minister gave this speech at the ACEA online conference \u2018Putting the EU auto industry back on track post-COVID\u2019 on Tuesday 20
