{"id":51190,"date":"2024-09-10T00:01:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T22:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.acea.auto\/?post_type=publications&#038;p=51190"},"modified":"2025-05-08T16:15:55","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T14:15:55","slug":"acea-releases-state-of-the-art-recommendations-for-vehicle-automation","status":"publish","type":"publications","link":"https:\/\/www.acea.auto\/publication\/acea-releases-state-of-the-art-recommendations-for-vehicle-automation\/","title":{"rendered":"ACEA state-of-the-art recommendations for vehicle automation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"intro block-container\"><p>With the start of the new EU mandate, the European Automobile Manufacturers&#8217; Association (ACEA) is proud to announce its #FutureDriven recommendations on automated driving, showcasing an ambitious roadmap for the development of this key technology.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"cntnt block-container\">\n<p>With the European automotive industry\u2019s investments in automated vehicles starting to yield results, we have an ambitious vision for the future and created a concrete set of recommendations across the entire research, development, and deployment stages of the automated automotive sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recommendations we have made in this publication are also accompanied by concrete forecasts regarding the near future of automated driving, broken down into specific applications, in the short-to-medium-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe are one of the first industries to advance so far in the development and testing of automation in our products, and we have a lot to be proud of in terms of what we\u2019ve accomplished\u201d<\/em> highlighted Pierre Millette, ACEA\u2019s Chief Technology Officer. <em>\u201cOur roadmap not only shows automation in practice today, but concrete timelines for future deployment of vital technology driving European competitiveness\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Covering six key areas that would ensure the successful deployment of automated vehicles in Europe, we highlight the need to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reinforce the innovative capabilities<\/strong> of European companies and streamline legislation into unified EU standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Upgrade, adapt, and reinforce infrastructure and legislation<\/strong> to ensure road safety and the comfort of our drivers and passengers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Update<\/strong> approval schemes and expand the number of automated vehicle applications allowed in the European Union<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a <strong>robust funding scheme<\/strong> for automated passenger and freight services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that Commercial vehicle drivers and operators are protected by labour regulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that this technology becomes <strong>accessible and inclusive<\/strong> to the wider public, and supports future drivers and passengers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All of which is complemented by the ACEA automation roadmap showing the timeline for all use cases in the automotive industry heading into 2030 and beyond.
