Transport & Mobility Leuven (TML) has published its first set of quarterly key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the EU automotive sector’s progress toward zero-emission mobility for cars and vans.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The first quarterly update builds on a gap analysis<\/a> of key enabling conditions and offers timely insights to help policymakers and industry leaders identify roadblocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quarterly update centers on four key areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Electricity grid \u2013 can the network handle the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Consumer perspective \u2013 are EVs affordable, accessible, and attractive enough for widespread adoption?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Charging infrastructure \u2013 are there enough charging stations in the right places?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Manufacturing \u2013 are energy prices competitive and do we have enough battery production capacity?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Set against the backdrop of the EU\u2019s Automotive Industrial Action Plan, the report reveals uneven progress across key areas of the transition and it underscores both the urgency and complexity of the shift to zero-emission mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    While Europe is meeting certain benchmarks, significant gaps remain. These could delay progress if not urgently addressed. To stay on course, the report calls for coordinated action, regulatory flexibility, and sustained investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Regular KPI monitoring will be essential to enable agile responses and ensure alignment between ambition and implementation. TML will provide a new update on the state of play of enabling conditions each quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
